An space-time odyssey

Wanted, but what do we really want? This creation based en The Odyssey by Homer, takes El mayor encanto amor and El golfo de las sirenas by Calderón de la Barca as textual foundations. A story of what could have been, of all the parallel lives that cros and meet along there journeys.

A looper is the starting point of the scenic proposal, where both interpreters are musicians, technicians, cooks and themselves. Everything live, trying to make a real contact with the other, with the audience.

Synopsis

We spend our life waiting for something (or someone) without realizing that something or someone is inside us. We want to travel further than anyone to find what we lack, but we cannot see that the most important trip is the one we maketo our inside.

In our odyssey, Penelope wishes to be abducted by some aliens that will never come for her, Ulysses is closer to a beggar than to a king, and the actors that wander along the space of this play confess to being more lost than the characters they embody.

There is only one journey: the one that takes us from our mother's womb to the underworld. What we do in the meantime is not Olympus gods' business, we are responsible for our own actions, whether we like it or not.

Interstellar distances are getting bigger

and we are getting further away .

Born on 10th June 1990, besides being part of KARRIKA (theatre company in Durango), in 2011 he gathers with Mariano Estudillo and Eneko Sagardoy (among others) to create Arte Bizia, a multi-artistic cultural association that would be afterwards known as Atara Zarata, managed by himself. This association-company has worked in the Basque Country, earning success with LGTB-oriented stagings aiming at teen audiences, both in Spanish and in Basque.

He currently lives in Madrid to keep training in audiovisual and show production.

Graduate in Text Interpretation by RESAD (Royal School of Dramatic Arts od Madrid) and Master in Theatre and Dramatic Arts by the Complutense University of Madrid (with a final work on pedagogy of drama mentored by J. L. García Barrientos). Since 2013 she has been working as teacher in the Pedagogical Project by Grumelot Formación at Nave 73 Actors' and Creators' school.

Besides having trained as actress and participated in international festivals such as Your Chance (Moscow, Russia) and Almada (Portugal), she stood out in direction and creation by being the youngest director in Almagro Classical Theatre International Festival with the staging Aparece un corazón en un descampado.

She has continued training in creation by being assistant director in the staging Sueño (by Andrés Lima in La Abadía theatre)and Las crónicas de Peter Sanchidrián (by José Padilla in Pavón Kamikaze theatre).

Even though his career has gone towards acting, he directs his first project at the age of 18 in Durango (Bizkaia), where he was raised and where he started taking first steps as actor and musician. In this first project some distinguishing features could be sensed, and they have lingered in his later shows: live music, several artistic forms living with each other, plastic arts…

Already in Madrid, balancing his appearances in cinema (La herida, Un otoño sin Berlín), theatre (Las amistades peligrosas, En el estanque dorado) and television (Vive cantando, Servir y Proteger), he starts developing a personal view by directing the microtheatre piece Ni nunca ni jamás in 2015 and mainly by composing and directing sound spaces (Las amistades peligrosas, Cuando menos te lo esperes… Scivias…). With Wanted, besides from directing sound and acting, he is for the first time responsible for the dramaturgy of all this text collage.

Born in Valdepeñas in 1997, from a very young age she has an interest in science and languages. She studies dance in the professional conservatory of Albacete, and then moves to Madrid to train as set designer in RESAD. (Royal School of Dramatic Arts of Madrid.)

About to graduate and keeping her passion for sewing and dancing with sporadic courses, she starts to make a name by working in AlmagroOFF, Galileo Theatre, Carlos III Theatre, Pabellón6, NAVE73 and Teatros del Canal among others.

What would our past self think if we met today?

Why now

Classic heroes have gone for a walk

in an allay in Lavapiés.

Madrid is Troy. The vast majority of people we have met in this city have come here to fight for their dreams. They have left it all for their name to echo in history, but what happens afterwards? What happens when the war is over? Are we able to go back home, or do we need an excuse to keep fighting indefinitely? Are we capable of accepting defeat?

Reading The Odyssey with all these questions in mind was a revealing process, and empathizing with the issues Homer lays out in his epopee gave us the impulse we needed to understand that we are not too far from those classic heroes. We want to feel that our life is worth it, that we aren't mistaken by doing what we do, that, ultimately, all this makes sense.

We live in a time in which we need to leave our print in this world through social networks, to prove that there is something that makes us different, that makes us unique, when at heart we all search for the same thing: finding that distinctive feature that connects us to the others.

When you want to go back, do you want to go back to a place or to a time?

Can you return to Ithaca if you don't know where it is?
